A software studio and technology partner with an unusual origin story — building tools and guiding strategy for organizations trying to make a difference.
I didn't take a typical path to software development. Before writing code, I worked as a carpenter, taught yoga, supported people in mental health settings, and taught programming to incarcerated individuals.
Each of these experiences shaped how I think about building software. From carpentry, I learned that preparation and quality materials prevent problems later. From yoga instruction, I learned to meet people where they are. From mental health work, I understood the importance of privacy and trust. From teaching in prisons, I learned that good tools remove barriers instead of creating them.
Now I build software and serve as a fractional technology leader for organizations navigating growth — healthcare providers, educators, service companies scaling fast, and teams who need a technical partner, not just a contractor. I care about understanding your whole ecosystem, not just the code.
The name is deliberately simple, almost naive. In an industry full of clever wordplay and abstract concepts, we wanted something direct.
“We” — Even as a small studio, software is collaborative. We work with clients, not for them.
“Build” — Not just code, but construct. There's craft in what we do, and building implies something meant to stand.
“Good” — Quality, yes, but also ethics. Good software respects users. Good software serves a purpose beyond profit.
“Things” — Apps, tools, systems—whatever the project needs. We're not precious about what we call it.
Started in the trades, learning that careful preparation and quality materials matter more than rushing to finish. Still apply those principles today.
Taught yoga for years, discovering how to meet people where they are and guide without forcing. Good software should feel the same way.
Worked in mental health support, deepening understanding of human needs, accessibility, and the importance of privacy and trust.
Taught programming to incarcerated individuals, learning that good education removes barriers instead of creating them.
Building software and serving as a fractional technology leader for growing organizations. Architecting systems, guiding strategy, writing code, and helping companies scale — with the same care and intentionality that shaped every step before this one.
Not marketing speak—actual principles that guide our decisions.
We don't add tracking, analytics, or data collection unless explicitly required. Your users' data stays private because that's how it should be—not because regulations force it.
Every feature earns its place. We build comprehensive solutions when you need them—but no checkbox features, no bloatware. Just the tools your users actually need, designed to work together.
We choose boring, proven technologies over trendy ones. Simple architectures that your team can understand and maintain for years, not months.
Clear, upfront pricing with no hidden fees or surprise change orders. We scope carefully and communicate proactively if anything affects the estimate.
We prioritize organizations making a positive impact—healthcare providers improving access, educators reaching underserved students, nonprofits stretching limited budgets. If you're trying to help people, we want to help you.
Nashville isn't just Music City—it's home to the nation's largest concentration of healthcare companies, a growing education technology sector, and a civic tech community that punches above its weight.
That ecosystem shapes the work we do. We understand HIPAA constraints, nonprofit budgets, and the unique challenges of building for communities that have been underserved by technology. We work with clients nationwide, but Nashville keeps us grounded in work that matters.
